Temporary or permanent?

Our economy is an unbelievably complex thing. Some people like bikers are more analytical, meaning if I turn this gear this way it makes this gear turn which makes this gear turn that way. Every action causes a very predictable and physically provable reaction. Our economy and economics as a whole are sciences where inputs kinda sort are predictable but not very.

The temporary fix is to get government spending under control to restore confidence. Our economy just like the stock market is based a great deal on emotion. You have heard the term "consumer confidence"? That is just what it means, when people are scared or uncertain they slow down spending. This is bad for our economy because it makes a gear slow down, which makes other gears slow down which makes other gears slow down.

Investor confidence is another. When you see "national debt" they are speaking about real money that was loaned to us in the form of T-Bills or Bonds. A lot of countries hold our bonds. US debt for years was considered a safe bet. Right now our government has been spending soooooo much money investors IE:countries who customarily buy our bonds and T bills are starting to give us the hairy eyeball. When you start talking about the staggering numbers like 17 Trillion it makes people nervous too.

You do know what a trillion dollars looks like right? If you stacked brand new $1 bills 1 trillion dollars would be a stack 67,000 miles high. Obama's administration is on track to spend $1.7 Trillion more THIS YEAR than the government projects it will take in EXCLUSIVE of the Stimulus and Bush's TARP. You simply cannot continue this year after year. Now go and try to add another trillion or two over 10 years of projected budget to pay for healthcare and people are REALLY fucking nervous. See the GOP doesn't want people to die, or be sick, or to be unhealthy but the simple FACT is things just don't fall out of the sky for free and covering 40 million people with free health care is going to cost and cost big to a government that already is spending $1.7 TRILLION more than it takes in.

A more permanent fix is the government creating an atmosphere for manufacturing business to return to America. Right now we are almost purely consumers, we buy, eat, ride, sleep in, wear, eat with, wrap our dicks in, and clip our toenails with products all manufactured in other countries. We export some things mostly technology. Technology is not tangible and other countries will eventually become more technologically self sufficient. When that happens what are we going to sell to them for revenue so we can buy big screen TV's?

As far as a universal currency it may be the hope of some socialist types but it will never really work. Right now in this country we have "have" and "have nots" and it causes us a great deal of strife. Now magnify it a million fold when you are talking about countries. Look at what is happening in Greece right now. That entire nation is going bankrupt and is on the verge of collapse. Now the EU is going to have to come in and save them. In saving them they will now have a say in Greece monetary policy. Something that would NEVER go well in the US. Can you imagine the EU coming in and telling the Federal Reserve they MUST raise the interest rate?

So I have spent a bunch of electrons to not even come close to answering your question

Unfortunately it is not that easy. companies don't voluntarily send jobs overseas, they do it to survive.

This is very true Pete..However...In my opinion, if people took the time to be "economically patriotic" ( how ya like that one?)...Ithink it would sure help with the situation..Once again inMy opinion it all starts with taking care of ourselves (the USA) first!..I do realise , yes, it IS NOT that simple..but alot of purchases are from selfish greed.. etc... Just Sayn*

I see it like this... Spend a few extra $'s and let a fellow American live comfortably.. OR* go cheap and support slave labor and or malaysian poverty levels?... Once again I'm not Naive.. and it doesnt work this way its much more complex..but I sure do wish it'd happen ( the support of US items and Commerce)

Walmart is the largest retailer in the world for a reason. Because people aren't worried about being "economically patriotic" and they don't give a rats ass about some gook working for $3 a week in a sweat shop as long as they can get that really cool t-shirt with a rebel flag on it for $4. American consumers have had it good for a long time. High wages, cheap products. Think about it, when you were young you had 1 TV and it was a purchase that was planned for months. Now most homes have 2 or 3. Hell I have 4 big screens so I am part of the problem too LOL.

Even if people wanted to be patriotic there just are not that many things made in America anymore. Textile plants all across the south....closed, steel plants in Pennsylvania......closed, hell even half the parts on our beloved Harley's made in China or other Asian countries.

Look at housing, many Americans are STUPID and we reward or rescue them. The year is 2004 and the housing market is SCREAMING. Johnny and Beverly make a combined income of $65,000. they want a house........not just any house..........a BIG house because they "deserve it". They find their 3,400 square foot 5 BR, 3.5 BA 3 car garage house they MUST HAVE. They find a mortgage broker and say "I want it, make it happen! " Since they have no money to put down he sets them up for an 80/20 Adjustable rate mortgage and explains all the rules to them. Johnny and Bev can barley make those payments but they do it. Mind you the prime interest rate is .5, lowest it has been since the 1930's. It can't go any lower so guess which way the interest rate is eventually going to adjust? Down? No fucking way, it is going up because they are NEVER going to pay you interest for buying a home. So now Johnny and Bev are in their house making 2 strapping house payments they can barely afford and the first adjustment happens and their payments go up. Now they are "house poor". Nice palace but they can't afford to scratch their asses. Then it adjusts again, now they are really fucked. Their life sucks, they fight, Johnny gets drunk a lot and beats Bev, she is out fucking some guy like me because her self esteem is shot, they say fuck it and walk away from the place and let it foreclose. Multiply this by tens of thousands. Now this is a news story. Johnny is on the NBC nightly news where they tell the story of how horrible Johnny has it, how it all comes crashing down, he is on a couch sobbing and tells his story about how it isn't HIS fault. So now people are sad. they didn't tell the whole story that Johnny and Bev are beyond fucking retarded and agreed to a deal they could barely afford in the best of times and they fucked themselves. So the government, reacting to this nation wide sadness that retards are being boosted from their homes goes "Lets help them out and throw a bunch of money at it!" Our money. It still doesn't work, so now Obamalamadingdong is going to freeze foreclosures making shit even worse. So Johnny gets into a program and they stop the foreclosure. He is now paying jack shit on a heavily subsidized mortgage on a house 5X nicer than mine paying less than mine. Beverly stops fucking me and goes back to Johnny.

So now my taxes are going up, the economy sucks ass, I am having to start tightening my belt even though I was smart and did the right thing because OTHER PEOPLE WERE STUPID and to make matters worse the only person getting fucked is me.
