On the long weekend Chickpoo and I went to the Black Hills, not likely as exciting as Chilli but still fun.

I took friday afternoon off work so we could get an early start and we where on the road by 2:30. We wandered down the road thru Belcourt, Rugby (which is the geographical center of North America), Minot, then across the Garrison dam, Buelah and thought we would stop at Dickenson for the night. WRONG There where no hotels available. Out came the GPS and we checked Belfield full. Medora had a room. AT 169.00 PLUS TAX.
If you know me very well I will sleep behind a bale or on a picnic table befor spending that much on a room to sleep in. Tryed Bowman $ 58.00 for a room and they had plenty. Shot them a Cc # and we are on our way.

By now it is getting dark and with all the wild life in that country prowling around it is not real safe to be on the road after dark in 2 wheels. We made it to Bowman without hurting any of ND deer or skunks.

One thing about staying in Bowman it is not far to the Black Hills from there. There is some long streaches.

When we got to Sturgis there was a Mustang car ralley on. The streets were lined with cars instead of motorcycles. There was a dyno goiing with Mustangs trying there best to out do each other. Sound familiar?

While in Sturgis we picked up our tee shirts . 5 for 28 bucks for good quality shirts

We went ridng and followed the Old Hill City road. Very nice ride that crosses the old train trans about 20 times in 18 miles The emission control is working perfectly on that engine. The smoke goes straight up

hey everybody- im kinda new to the site- but i thought id share a little bit about my trip from wa state to Santa Rosa NM for the smoke out west-

i basically just had the tins painted on my 91 sporty- hardtail struts and corbin seat- throw over bags and a backpack tied to the sissy bar- i left spokane and rode to idaho falls the first day- weather was great until i headed down 15 in motana- i basically got drenched all the way to idaho falls- the next am didnt promise much better weather- the skies were dark and threatening but i managed to get to salt lake with out a drop- it warmed up alot- and then as i crossed the mtns from provo on hwy 6 - the winds picked up- my goal was to get to moab- and i did- but holy shit- sustained 40 mph winds with a few gusts near 55 mph!! made for a great time- was i could do to keep her on the road- the next am was beautiful- no wind and cool- i made it to santa rosa by 5 pm that afternoon and met my dad, step mom and jake there- the rally was cool- backyard chops mostly- it was a great time- not so many treats were exsposed but at least it was good company-

the ride back started out great- dad and jake were with me- we made it to silverton colorado the first day- if you have never ridden that stretch of road from durango to silverton- it is creepy- big drops and narrow roads!! but absolutely gorgeous- the next am with left headed north- through grand junction - we rolled north outa grand junction- and after clearing another mtn pass- my dads trailer wheel left the pavement around a 20 mph curve- it was ugly- for 15 mph it threw dad about 35 ft from the bike- the tongue of the trailer looked like twisted wraught iron- dad escaped the accident with only fractures- 4 ribs and 5 verterbrae- he was lucky-

i had to be home by the following monday- so i headed out alone again- and made it home safe with fair weather the rest of the trip-

dad is doing great- bike was totaled but he bought it back and both he and the bike will be up and running by late fall im sure-

anyhow- it was a great ride despite the accident! total miles for me clocked in at 3633- not bad for a midlife crisis ride!!

and for the record the bike is no longer sittin on struts- LMAO my ass was killing me- but i wanted to say i rode cross crounty on a hard tail!!

aight
respects and ride safe
