REUTERS - Five facts about U.S. motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel, who died on Friday at age 69:
* A jailer in Montana was responsible for Knievel's nickname. As a youth, Knievel had several run-ins with police and the jailer dubbed him "Evil Knievel." In order not to be perceived as a bad guy, Knievel later changed the spelling to "Evel" as his daredevil career took off.
* Among Knievel's notable feats were clearing 19 cars in 1971, sailing over 13 Mack trucks in 1974 and jumping 13 double-decker buses in London in 1975, as well as a failed attempt to leap the Snake River Canyon in Idaho on a rocket-powered motorcycle in 1974.
* Knievel played himself in the 1977 movie "Viva Knievel!" The plot featured a rival trying to kill Knievel and use his 18-wheel truck to smuggle cocaine. George Hamilton portrayed him in a 1971 film and George Eads played him in a 2004 television movie.
* Knievel starred in track and field, hockey and ski jumping in high school.
* National Football League kicker Adam Vinatieri, best known for kicking game-winning field goals in the Super Bowl for the New England Patriots, is Knievel's cousin.

If you don't know, there are a shit load of "stars" famous people who live in the Tampa Bay area. From Steven King, Howard Stern, Jerry Springer, Tom Cruise the list goes on and on. They come here because people around here really don't give two flying crap who you are or what you do. The weather is usually great most of the year also.

To give you an idea. I was sitting in a "whole in the wall" dinner eating breakfast and Jerry Springer comes in and sits next to me at the counter. I asked him "who has better deals, target or Walmart?" We both laugh and now we say hi to each other when we see each other in town. Really nothing big.

There are a few "Z listers" around here who are plainly known as "assholes." Evel was one and the other that comes to mind is Macho Man Randy Savage. Evel I think has been kicked out of every topless bar and restaurant around town. This asshole would walk in and demand free food or drinks because he was "Evel Knievel." If you said "hi" to him or told him you enjoyed the things he did, he would either cuss you out or tell you to pay his bill. A real asshole, I think one of the most hated people around Tampa Bay too.

Macho Man Randy Savage: his whole family is fucked up. With his father who was still wrestling in his 70's to his brother who is very openly gay. His father would wrestle and he would have to win or he would fire the guy he wrestled. Come on a 70 year old man beating a 30 year old. His brother always looked like he was going to suck a dick while wrestling. If you said hi or made small talk with him, he would grab your ass. Randy is the most fucked up. He does not have the body he did 10 years ago. He's 50 but looks 80. He only goes to a few restaurant in town because they let him eat a lone. Of course he can only do this on their off hours like 2 - 4 pm. It makes him feel special. LOL He sues everybody, he wants money to do anything I mean anything, like things for kids. Randy has taken the #1 spot as the most hated man in Tamps, because Evel died.
