Awwwwwwww yer so sweet 75! :love1:
I have to mention this cos it literally blows my mind. 1st off, we dont do stealerships. Anytime we've got something that cant be repaired in Sheps garage we take it to the local indy. And lemme tell ya folks, this guy is the most helpful and generous mechanic I have ever met in my life! His name is Jim and he owns the Route 51 Cycles in Genoa. Im tell'n yas, the guy would give us the shirt off his back and folks like that are rare nowadays. He has always treated us so good from the Shovel to BigBlue. Im not going to go into detail about how much he has helped this time but I will say this....he went over the top to help us. Had he not offered what he had and the sage advice, I cant even imagine how much it would have cost us to repair her in the shop. I need to think of some way to thank him, words arent enough. OH! And get this...he even gave me a biker stud calendar fer free LOL!!! I picked it up to check it out of course and he looks over an says "You want it? Take it! I want em out of my shop" LMAO!!! I think his OL ordered em and they just werent selling very well.
Anyhoo, I know he'll probably never read this but thank you Jim...for everything.

I know that it may not seem so now, but there is a silver lining in this whole thing. It happened now, and not while you were on the road. Always easier to fix an issue when you are in a familiar shop with good friends and someone to bring out the cold beer and munchies. Looks like you got it all handled though. At least you know it will be done right.

Sheepdog, What's the status with Big Blue? Parts come in? I guess it is a good sign if you do not post a response to this question. Hopefully that would mean that you are working on her. Hope things go well for ya. Fred

DAMN!!!! How many miles are on the bike?
Only 24,000 its a 03'...had 5000 on it when I bought it..My tech says its just barely bad .just loose enough to make a noise after it gets going...he just happened to have another 5speed tore apart and slide my sprocket onto the other drive gear and it was way tighter....the Trans sprocket spun just enough to damage it- when it went out..just think all this is from some damn square locking washer that let go...

my 99 king has 70,000 on it. Cm bearing went out last year. Caught it before too much damage. Still trying to get the fork seals fixed right.

The only thing Ive ever seen with them is that they get over filled with oil..so when ya hit big bumps it pushes oil out making it look like its leaking...you got after market chrome lowers?
I was trying to copy a pic from my CD owners manual about that gear and show ya guys the problem but it wont let me save it...hrryymmm.

Putting the wrong weight oil in the forks will also many times cause nuisance leaks. But like Sheep stated, most common cause is overfilling. A bad chroming job can also cause leaks.
Sheep, where did you get your CD owners manual?? I have been looking for one for my 2000 Ultra with no avail.
I went through some similar issues due to that loose or in my case missing sprocket lock. My 74 Super Glide suffered $3000 worth of damage due to it. The damage was already there when the bike came into my possession. Took out the tranny, inner primary, starter, clutch hub, and primary chain. You were lucky in that you paid attention to the noises. Most don't until it is too late. I have 70000 on my Ultra. Hopefully 70000 more to come.
